Identifying and Measuring Stranded Oil

Graham Marshall - Monday, May 28, 2012

The International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF) is a not-for-profit organization established on behalf of the world's shipowners and their insurers.

ITOPF promotes effective responses to marine oil spills; and its technical services include emergency response advice on clean-up techniques, pollution assessment, oil spill response planning, and oil spill response training.

ITOPF provides a comprehensive source of information on marine oil pollution via the publication of Technical Information Papers (TIPs) on a range of subjects.

Today's post includes information from ITOPF on the methods available for reliable reporting and early estimation of the extent of oil pollution from a marine spill.
