Environment Defenders Office is a Risk to WA

Graham Marshall - Tuesday, May 29, 2012

The economy and the jobs of people in Western Australia are at serious risk from two major sources.

One source of risk to our future comes from our own Government and the ridiculous red-tape imposed on investors who wish to develop major minerals extraction projects in this state.

The other source of risk which is a danger to our future well-being are the greenies from organizations like the WA Environmental Defenders Office.

Why on Earth will organizations such as Woodside Petroleum continue to spend $30 billion on creating jobs from developing projects like the Kimberley gas hub, when protesters are disrupting work, and the EDO are launching civil cases in the Supreme Court challenging Woodside’s right to start work?

The WA police have already been forced to spent $1 million of our tax dollars sending police to control a bunch of professional protestors. And now, rather than creating more jobs for the people of this State, extra time, money and resources will be wasted in Court by Woodside defending against the pathetic claims of the EDO.

The upshot of all this is that organizations will increasingly look to other States or overseas for investment opportunities and WA will miss the boat when it comes to future job creation.

As the greenies drag the good name of WA through the mud for international investors, more organizations - such as INPEX as already done - will simply take their business elsewhere.  The folks in the NT are pretty happy about this!

Jobs and a bright future for our kids will dry-up in WA if these idiots get their way.
